SQL คือ ภาษาที่ใช้ในการจัดการฐานข้อมูลเชิงสัมพันธ์ (Relational Database) ใช้ในการสร้าง และ จัดการ หรือการสืบค้นข้อมูลที่มีเป็นจำนวนมาก ของฐานข้อมูล ซึ่งเป็นภาษาที่ใช้ได้ในทุกๆ ค่ายของฐานข้อมูลต่างๆ เช่น SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL หรือแม้แต่ Microsoft Access ก็จะใช้ภาษานี้ในการจัดการข้อมูล RELATIONAL DATABASE เป็นรูปแบบการจัดเก็บข้อมูลในรูปแบบของตารางซึ่งประกอบด้วยแถวและคอลัมน์ โดยที่แต่ละตาราง จะมีความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างข้อมูลอยู่ โดยใน 1 ฐานข้อมูล จะประกอบด้วยหลายๆตารางมากหรือน้อยขึ้นอยู่กับขนาดของข้อมูลนั้น แต่ตารางต้องมีความสัมพันธ์กัน  คำสั่งหลักๆของ ภาษา SQL ประกอบด้วยสองส่วนหลักๆคือ Data Definition...
