Myanmar Delegation Evaluates Seaworthiness of M.V. SEAFDEC at SEAFDEC/TD

On 9 February 2026, the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) welcomed a five-member delegation from Myanmar. The delegation comprised representatives from the Research and Development Division, the Department of Marine Administration, Myanmar Maritime University, and the Tanintharyi Fisheries Federation. The visit aimed primarily at inspecting the seaworthiness of the M.V. SEAFDEC as part of a collaborative framework for vessel transfer or utilization. The day commenced with a warm welcome from the Training Department Chief and the Deputy Training Department Chief, followed by a comprehensive technical briefing on the vessel’s specifications and operational history by the Captain of M.V. SEAFDEC.

In the afternoon, the delegates conducted a thorough on-site inspection of the vessel, examining operational areas including the navigation bridge, engine room, crew accommodations, and specialized deck equipment to ensure all systems meet maritime standards. Following the inspection, the selection framework for the recipient was presented, leading to a productive discussion on technical cooperation. The visit concluded with a shared vision to enhance regional fisheries management, highlighted by closing remarks from both the Myanmar Head of Delegation and SEAFDEC.
