On-site Training on Fish Handling Onboard Fishing Vessel in Thailand

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) under the project “Responsible Fishing Technology and Practice” organized “On-site Training on Fish Handling Onboard Fishing Vessel” on 8 July 2022 in Pattani Province, Southern part of Thailand. There were 20 participants who are fishers, vessel owners, and stakeholders attending this training. The training focused on the importance of fish handling, cold chain management, and applicable methods through preservation techniques for improving fish handling onboard. In the end, the participants are expected to understand the technical knowledge of preserving the quality of fish to be fresh and reducing the damage to the quality and price of fish caught including techniques for using and developing labor-saving equipment for fishing vessel operation to enhance convenience and safety for fishing and reduce the impact of a shortage of labor on fisheries personnel.
