The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) extended a warm welcome to a delegation of 18 visitors (5 males and 13 females) from the Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, on 16 September 2026. The visit commenced with welcoming remarks delivered by the Training and Research Supporting Division Head, followed by an introductory video presentation that highlighted the department’s background, core mandates, and its regional role in sustainable fisheries development.
During the study tour, the delegation was guided through the fishing workshop, where they received practical knowledge and expert explanations regarding various types of fishing gear. Furthermore, the students had the opportunity to board and tour the research vessel M.V. SEAFDEC, a dedicated purse seiner. Onboard, they explored specialized instruments and navigational equipment essential for marine survey operations, gaining firsthand insight into real-world oceanic research.
This educational visit provided the fisheries students with an invaluable opportunity to broaden their experiences beyond the classroom. By engaging directly with professional fishing technologies and research facilities, the students enhanced their practical understanding of the field, which will serve as a vital guideline and inspiration for their future careers in the fisheries sector.
